Gir birding Lodge is situated right next to Gate 2 of the sanctuary. A great place with just the right ambience for the naturalist. Though the facilities are of a high standard, no picknicking parties are allowed here nor do they entertain walk-in guests. You need to book in advance. This is one of the cottages which Suma Rao (from Bangalore) and I shared.
The 35 acre campus provides visitors an opportunity for good birding and insect viewing. This butterfly is the Yellow orange-tip taken during my solitary walk on the first day

This is the Common Prinia taken just opposite my cottage.
3 Red-wattled lapwings near the river bed.
Common tailorbird flitting about on a huge Banyan tree at the entrance. some of the other notable sightings included Tickell's flycatcher, Black redstart and Common iora.
